Food Review: FB’s

This past weekend, Give Back Beyond Cincinnati hosted their first Flip Cup Tournament in FB’s basement (which I previously didn’t know existed).  It was a great space for the event, casual & simple.  In preparation of my first round game, I needed to put something on my stomach.  I asked the bartender what burgers they had and he was able to rattle off their best choices, which I appreciate.  I decided on the American Burger. 

What was really cool is that I’d went back into the lounge area and the bartender came to bring me the food!  As you can see the burger was colossal.  I have been laying off fried foods, so I was hoping that these fries were worth the cheat.  They delivered.  The ketchup was really unique also, I tasted a hint of honey which made for a delightful surprise. 

I ordered the burger medium well and I really appreciated having an option.  I hate when restaurants offer a $12 burger that you can’t have made to order (Honey, this ain’t Wendy’s)!  The burger was cooked perfectly and seasoned well.  Spicy without being overpowering.  It had a ton of toppings on it and had I been sitting at a table & not a sunken couch I would have been grateful for.  As it was, I made a huge mess.  You only live once, so what if a couple of splatters on my shirt is the price I pay for a great burger? 

I wasn’t pleased that the tab I expected to be about $15 ended up being $33 (w/ tip).  I didn’t ask how much the burger was before I ordered, so with that, a couple of import beers plus I ended up paying for my friend’s burger too (he thinks he’s slick “put it on her tab, I’ll give you the cash” never pans out well).  Happy hour my @ss, lol! 

Either way, I’m reviewing the food, not the cost, so I’d give FB’s an A for raising the bar on bar food.
