So before I left for the NO, I attended my good friend Markiea’s bridal shower at Moerlien Lager House.  I’d been sooo excited about going there.  Here’s why: a few years ago, I was working on the schematic (early) design of this building.  Then Christian Moerlien hired a restaurateur who came with his own Architect.  In which case, they took what we had done and finished the design of the building.  Which meant I didn’t get to finish the building, which sucks.  So I was dying to see what they did with my dream.  Mind you, I design buildings by day, but this blog is about food, so I won’t go into anymore architectural details, lol!      

They did a special menu for us which was awesome, as seen above.  The food was really good, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I loved it!  They had a choice of baked pasta or roast beef sliders and I went with the pasta and a salad.  The dressing on the salad was amazing and the cheese to sauce ratio in the pasta was perfect.  I had gotten a bit frazzled by the crowd on my way to the place, so our great server promptly bought me the cutest little bottle of champagne (I know this place is known for beer, but it was a bridal shower and 1 in the afternoon, champagne was far more fitting of the occasion).  We enjoyed lunch and each other’s company so much, I forgot to take pics of our food, lol!  Just as well, desert was an amazing raspberry ice cream cake with a light drizzle and our parting favor was a cookie from Bonbonnerie w/ the couple’s initials: super cute. 

The lowdown: One thing I didn’t love about this place was that it was packed to the gills because of the Reds game.  Almost uncomfortably so.  This meant I had to park 6 blocks away and walk in 97 degree heat in 6 inch heels.  No bueno!  We had a private room and I was glad, because otherwise, I don’t know that we would have had the same pleasant experience.  When Kiea was opening her gifts a table full of ladies was oogling us!  Our server was swift to close the blinds on them, lol.  Service was an A+ we had two servers and they took excellent care of use even though the dining room was pandemonium.  The food was a strong B.  I’ll definitely have to go back and order something off the menu, but from what I saw, I was definitely impressed.
